The weeks and days are bleeding together, and we are in this weird stand still, excitedly waiting to be able to move but also like in this freeze moment of HOW DO WE DOWNSIZE THIS MUCH, mixed with timing. This is the LAST week of school, thank goodness! It has been so incredibly hard, and I can’t wait to send the nugget back to real school. I hope that next year he can go and there is no starting off in virtual or anything like that.
Monday– If memory serves me right, I didn’t do anything, it was more of a rest/recovery day since we went to the beach the previous weekend and I was toast.
Tuesday– Plan: 2-3 miles on the treadmill Actual: Made it 1.25 miles and got over it lol, I have been having some patience issues lately and that dang clock is not helping. Shows and movies aren’t keeping me entertained and neither is music and looking out the window.
Wednesday– Plan: 3 miles Actual: 3 MILES! I did it, I slowed it down, I made sure to just stick with it, and I kept on going. And I could’ve kept going further if I didn’t have to go home and make sure H got on his work call- which he ended up missing. #momfail Still this run felt great and I am very happy to log in 3 miles today. And topped off with some good yoga and stretching afterwards.
Thursday- Plan: cross training and strength training Actual: 2 miles on bike and 1.3 miles walking uphill. Upper body strength! Low weight and higher reps
Friday- plan: a couple miles and yoga actual: the dog got in something he was NOT supposed to. As all labradors seem to do, they eat EVERYTHING no matter what. Well he got sick and I was taking care of him the rest of the day.
Saturday- puppy update – he is back to normal and totally fine. And we are taking extra precautions to make sure he doesn’t get into anything he shouldn’t. The last few weekends J got really bad sunburns so we tried staying out of the sun, despite a gloriously hot 89* day! It would’ve been great to dunk in the water. We took H to the Fort where it has a park and good food. He got to play for a bit and then we had lunch and made our way home. It was a rather boring yet relaxing day.
Sunday- the boys went out fishing in Fairhope and I took a lovely run down the coast! I wanted to get to 4 miles but I’m happy with what I got! It was close to 88* out and this being my first run outside in well over a month- and with this heat- I’ll take it!! It felt all relatively easy, the first .5 mile was extra hard and I wanted to stop lol, but I kept going anyway. Slowed it down and enjoyed the run.
Total mileage- just under 9 miles. Definitely not what I aimed for but it’s more than nothing! ANNNND kindergarten is finally done! So I have morning going to get in a run and not have to rush rush rush in between class calls and stuff. We now have a first grader!!
Monday- 2 miles and then some walking to cool down
Tuesday- was a mess! I also thought I totally lost the gym key which would have cost $50! 😤 luckily I found it in my shorts I put back in a drawer and lost all memory of using 😭🤣
Wednesday- 2 mile quick run. I’ve been having some difficulty getting motivated and my goal to run a sub 7 minute mile feels like light years away.
Thursday- I slowed it down, although I felt GREAT waking up, I was a little sore. So I did my morning walk with the pup and some yoga. And dang it, that helped a ton! But I didn’t really find the time to fit in a run or workout, trying to not beat myself up over it!
Friday- not too sure what happened! But didn’t run lol
Saturday- an amazing beach day!! If it weren’t for the wind, it would’ve been PERFECT! Water felt fantastic too!
Sunday – chores and chores from the beginning of the day! But managed 25 minutes in the gym.
I’ve been going through a lot the last couple weeks and dealing with some dizziness and not feeling so great. I’ve been trying to be kind and just stay consistent with movement. Walking a few times a day with the puppy helps, but pushing myself harder than I can manage just isn’t happening right now. If I can ever do a sub 7 min mile, it’ll happen later on, not today though! Lol
Love how I announce a new goal and then fall off the wagon immediately 😂 honestly though this week has been so stressful. Our apartment management has been a total PITA!!! we can’t wait to be out of here and away from their terrible negativity
Thursday- I had zero focus. ZERO. And couldn’t hang for long
Saturday was Jesses birthday and Sunday was Mother’s Day. Saturday turned into chores mostly and prep (J’s request!) I tried to do something fun but he wouldn’t have it because we have so much to get done. So we cleaned the cargo trailer, cleaned some of the house and oh I did get to take him to lunch! Mellow Mushroom… delicious! And then we did about 8 loads of laundry and finished close to 10pm.
Sunday we woke up early and went to the beach! Tried a new one and there were actually waves. It was about 75* in the water and close to 80* outside. Felt great! We left river home alone, not in his crate! He only ripped up one piece of tissue… NOT BAD!! We got no pictures this whole weekend, just simply enjoyed each others company.
I have written and “saved” this post about 5 times, and yet it will not update 😦 This week has been a little rough emotionally. A lot rough.
Monday– Plan: 3 easy miles and strength Actual: just a couple walks with the pup, I had NO time to actually do any kind of workout. And it was rough
Tuesday– Plan: 2.5 miles speedy and strength Actual: 4 miles
Wednesday-rest
Thursday– Plan: 3 miles speedy Actual: 3.15 miles steady and happily I kept my HR at or below 150!
Friday– barre or Pilates Actual: 1 mile shake out run – legs were dead
Saturday- Plan: 5 miles Actual: We woke up super early to go do the final inspection of our trailer. Followed up with lunch and then came home and took a nap. Unfortunately, I was more willing to sleep and do nothing than actually run. Major sadness – but thought, Heck! I can do it Sunday
Sunday – Plan: 5 miles since I missed Saturday Actual: CLEAN. CLEAN. STRESS. RAIN. NAP. CLEAN.
Total Running: 8.15 miles – that is a sad sad number.
Monday– plan: 3 easy miles actual: THREE EZ MILES!! hallelujah it all went to plan!
Tuesday– REST
Wednesday– Plan: 3 mile Actual: The day got away from me and I pouted enough for J to let me run to the gym to get in a quick workout before we hit the grocery store. Which put a big smile on my face, so win-win for him and me lol. It was a super quick 25 minute run, 1.25 miles from speeds of 5.2-8.0 and then remaining .75 at a fast inclined walk.
Thursday– Plan: Speed workout 2/5-3miles Actual: 2.5 miles and the refuel with brekky! I haven’t been feeling too much like myself this week, a lot going on and high emotions all around. School is almost out and we are all in need of a BREAK!!
not the most flattering, but hey, its life!
Friday– REST
Saturday– Plan: virtual 5k against my friend Summer! We did a lock down virtual 5k last year when everyone went into lock down and she challenged me to do it again this year. started at 6.0 and upped it and I thought I was doing great, by mile 2 I was running at around 6.6 on the treadmill and finished in a dead sprint at 8.0. I was EXHAUSTED. Also, fell asleep on the couch while watching a show and then woke up and walked to the bed where I slept again hahah. All in all, I felt like I could have maybe pushed it harder, but I am glad I didn’t.
Low mileage week, on Sunday we went to the beach and I walked quite a ways in the deep sand. We tested the pup by letting him stay out of his crate. The last time he went to the beach he got sick from eating too much sand, so I didn’t really want to bring him again. But we didn’t want him stuck in his crate all day long either. So we let him stay out and hang in the house… and he did GREAT! Nothing destroyed. We were honestly all really surprised thinking SOMETHING would’ve gotten shredded up. Not even a tissue!
Monday- plan: 2.5 miles EZ Actual: 2.0 miles on treadmill because my allergies were going crazy today! Started at an easy 5.2mph and it just felt too easy, I felt really good and strong today so I upped it to 5.4 and kept going. my last 100m I was at 7.2?! (I think, dang it I can’t remember!) but anyway, felt great!!
Tuesday- plan: 1 mi warm up, 1.5 mi at 10 pace, 1 mile cool down. Actual: DID IT! I decided for indoors running because allergies have been kicking my butt. I even did my strength training but neglected stretching. taking all the me time I can get and somehow have found a happy place with listening to music and plodding away on the treadmill where as before I had to watch something. But with spring here, the green is coming back and life is coming back to nature and it’s beautiful!
Wednesday – REST even though I HATE it, my body will thank me.
Thursday – plan: 3.5 mile (1 mi warm up, 1 mi pick ups, 1.5 mile cool down) actual: tried to do a friends workout that had 3 min faster running and then recovery but ended up cutting it early because I was just over it 😅 couldn’t push myself much further.
Friday- REST and STRETCH (wasn’t feeling too good so opted for a nap! However had so much energy at the end of the night I was doing some weird version of dance aerobics
Saturday- plan: 6 miles easy actual: 5 miles total, 4.34 miles running and then the remaining (to get to 5 even) was a walk to cool down. I thought I could zone out watching a movie, I got bored during it and just kinda gave up. This past week I had occupied myself by just listening to music and never felt an ounce of boredom. Maybe I need to keep just doing that!
Total Mileage: 13.7 miles! I missed a cross training day but I did do strength and running! Only cut it short a little bit. Not too bad!!
This weeks goal- to keep smashing my routine. Glute activation, strength, runs and most definitely a long run. It’s no wonder I’ve been struggling on my runs because of extreme stress. We’ve tried fighting (nicely) the property management but to no avail we are not re-signing the lease for extremely bad reasons. But anyway! This is opening up new adventures!
Monday– Plan:2 miles EZ Actual: 2 miles EZ- 11:37/mi pace- I had wanted to do like 3 or 4 miles because I felt guilty for missing my long run, but I decided NO! That’s a recipe for disaster for the rest of the week. Start as you are. And so I did.
Tuesday– Plan: fartlek run planned- 10 min warm up, 3 min at 10/mi, 3 min at 9:30/mi, 3 min at 8:30/mi, 2 min recovery and REPEATx2 Actual: I got in one round. and then I didn’t have the mental stamina for more. It’s been a little rough this week, and for the past few months I have been very very stressed!
Wednesday- Plan: cross training. Actual: I couldn’t let today get away from me again. Sometimes you just gotta put yourself first. For me, I have to constantly actively put my workouts first. Which I think the family has gotten used to. I am not gone for hours and hours, it’s like an hour tops when I really need to get something in. And today was no different. I took care of everyone but before it got too late I headed out to the gym. Split workout, 20 min bike (6 miles) 15 min strength (upper body) and 20 min bike (5.6 miles) then took Hendrix to the park
Thursday– REST DAY
Friday– Plan: Speed work Actual: 4 miles with some 400m faster paces- not sprints! But this was good and hard. 1 mi warm up, .25 at 6.6, 2.6 at 6.8, 1 min rest, .25 at 7.0, .25 at 7.4, 4 min rest and then
Saturday– plan: 5-6 miles actual: 5 miles! This one was tough as first, it’s difficult plodding along at 5.2-5.5mph when I used to feel like anything less than 6mph was walking! But I’m slowly getting over that. The first 2 miles were mentally tough and I didn’t really want to be there. But then I thought at least make it to 30 minutes. I was lucky enough to be watching Legally Blonde and it sucked me in around minute 25. While I had a few little aches and pains they went away easily and I kept on going. Once I hit 35 minutes I had to play a game and tell myself to go for 5 more minutes. Each time I hit my next 5 I just realized I could keep on going and it was going to be okay. Running is more mental when you’re really not pushing it and mentally you’re more than fine to keep on going!
Completed all my runs this week! Made it to 13 miles in total and so happy about it! I feel really good too. And even better news… look what we are getting!!
We are tired of apartment living and since we can’t yet get land or a house we might as well simplify and purchase an awesome trailer!! We will be moving in June! 🤗🤗
Making a plan is one thing, sticking to it is a whole ‘nother story! Here is my plan: run 4x, strength train 3x, rest 2x, cross training 1x.
Monday- Plan: run 2 miles easy + strength Actual: 2 miles + strength!!! The first mile my legs felt a little tight and then it got much easier on the second mile. Focusing on keeping a low heart rate has been really nice, I don’t have to push myself faster and I am more or less walking (it feels like!) and I definitely worry I’ve lost speed. So I’ve implemented speed workouts starting this week. And I know it’ll be hard! But today felt good and I even got in my strength!
The south started warming up again- so bipolar!
Tuesday – Plan: 3 miles total= 1 mile warm up, 1 mile at 10min/mi and 1 mile cool down Actual: 3 miles on target, very uncomfortable but not impossible! I wanted to hit 10min/mi for mile two, but I averaged about 9:42 or so, which is absolutely great. My legs felt super heavy! But this is also day 3 of running in a row, so I kind of expected it. Training is all about pushing through the uncomfortableness, it’s flushing out the lactic acid. I need to relish in the pain some times. So I am trying to keep a positive head space
Wednesday- Plan: XT or Rest Actual: With my legs feeling so heavy yesterday I knew I couldn’t do any leg work today. Last night I used my massage gun and went in on my hamstrings, quads, hips, lower back and calves. They have been suuuuper tight and just uncooperating! This morning felt like I COULD run, but I didn’t. I know I need to rest them, especially since I plan on a speed work out tomorrow. So, I focused on core work and arms. My upper body strength has always needed more work, so what better time than now to pump them up!
I spoke with my friend, Jake, one who was helping me with my marathon training PRE-COVID and PRE-Injury. It was more of me complaining because I really don’t feel like I am getting anywhere. I am comparing what I once was able to do to what I am doing now. But there is a lot to take into consideration. Won’t get into that…. here is what he said though, “Run 1 EZ day, 2 Speedy Days, 1 Long Run Day, and Cross Train 1-2 days where one of those XT days is kind of like your EZ run day.” HR training wise and wanting to get faster. If you go back to my goals for 2021 you will see that running wasn’t really on it and I wanted to focus on hiking more… well, running is more accessible, so here we are! And pace is never going to be put to the side much. I expect myself to be at a certain level and DANG IT I am going to try to get to that level one way or another! I really just want my easy miles to be at 10min/mi or like 9:45.. currently, I am running at like ~11:45-12:50/mi for easy pace (keeping HR below 150) but what I didn’t realize is that it won’t get any better if I don’t do SPEED WORK! How can my body progress better if all you do is easy runs, you have to push yourself out of comfort zones.
Thursday- Plan: ~2.5 miles of SPEED (workouts) 1 mi warm up .25 mi at 6.5 .25 mi at 6.9 rest for 1 min (if necessary) .25 mi at 6.7 .25 mi at 6.3 .5 mi cool down at 5.5-5.8 10 min at 9% 3.5-4mph STRENGTH day 3 Actual: I killed my workout, and realized that I put it in incorrectly in Garmin. So instead of just a 1/2 mile cool down, I did 10 min cool down at 5.5 (I think) and then only 5 minutes of the 9% incline walk at 3mph. I promised Hendrix he could go out and play before I sat down for work, so I wanted to make sure I kept it.. low and behold he decided to not go out. *facepalm!* Oh well, I felt great and I could definitely push my paces more, the rest yesterday made my legs feel really good today. And my core is actually quite sore from the 8 minute abs I did on Wednesday! Also completed Day 3/ 2 rounds of strength! And peep my new shorts from Outdoor Voices 🙂 My friend from MS shipped them over!
Friday- Plan: XT Actual: 30 minute girl power pumped bike ride with some abs that BURNED! Honestly so pumped I’ve made it to the end of the week and feel amazing! I’m not burnt out and I feel really strong! If this feeling can keep going I will be stoked!
My pants are on inside out and only realized it once I was halfway through my workout when I tried to find my pockets 😂😂
Saturday- Plan: REST (because most likely the run won’t happen this day) Actual: Without going into too much drama, we are not able to re-sign our lease coming up this year, so we have been looking for other options whether it be apartment or home living.. etc. we are 99% sure in thinking we are going TINY! Getting a travel trailer and living on a park till we save up for land! And then build our dream house. So we toured an RV dealership and found our dream trailer. This took a lot out of me mentally. And really opened my eyes to the possibility but also what would need to be done.
Sunday- Plan: LONG RUN- 6 MILES keep HR LOW Actual: no runs, it turned into cleaned the house- like a deep clean- and doing research on going tiny! I’m mentally exhausted, my legs could totally go for the run, but nothing else could. So I am respectfully not doing my run.
Planned Weekly Mileage: 14 miles Actual: 8 ish miles
I think the cover photo says a lot! It is ALREADY mine… my training is mine, I own what I have done, what I have given up on and what I am working on. Only I can add or take away from what I am doing. And that is the same for you!
I am going to stick to two days off for rest minimum, I think. Lol. With Sunday’s long run I want to run outside today only because it is supposed to storm the rest of the week. But we shall see.
Monday– Plan: 3 miles EZ + strength full body Actual: I kind of assumed since I did my long run the day before I would need a break. But I was still hopeful. Might have to change around my schedule to accommodate a Sunday long run instead of Saturday. But, what I did not know would happen? H was super needy today, and it was so emotionally taxing I ended up messing up on something huge at work, which then bit me in the butt the next day. To say I a feeling burnt out is an understatement, and this time it isn’t from training. It is from work. To be honest, I don’t like my job much- I don’t see a future in it for me, I see a glass ceiling that I have already bumped my head on. Some days are better than others, but realistically I just don’t like it. And I hope no one from work sees this, but if they do, hey I am just being honest.
Tuesday– Plan: XT and strength core and back Actual: I got 1 mile in, I was planning to make up for Monday’s missed workout, and as I set out for my mileage, H wanted to fly his drone. Well, one lap in/ 10 minutes of running and he lost his drone. Halt the work out, we go looking for it. Can’t find it anywhere. We search high and low and it was just the cherry on top of a crap day. And I don’t finish my work out. Then I go into work and get reprimanded for my mistake the previous day. This is all small things, they shouldn’t matter, but when in a vulnerable state of mind it compounded quickly and I lost it. I nearly quit. I cried a lot. I sniffled and puffed out my chest, knowing I needed to get through the day. It was hard. At the end of the day J knew something was up, I had walked outside and sat on the porch crying for 30 minutes. I couldn’t hold it in, he sat there with me and listened to my crying and explaining how crap it all was. Then I came in to get the best hugs from H who didn’t ask anything, he was just there for me, holding me and smiling. And that was the best feeling.
Wednesday– Plan: REST Actual: Since I did no workouts the past two days and I REALLY needed to sweat, it felt very therapeutic to go out. Of course, guilt set in as always.. I worry River and Hendrix will fight and something bad will happen, but before leaving I told H that if anything happened to come straight to the gym. I was supposed to do 3 miles on the tread, but I had to cut it short, I couldn’t keep it going. But I ended up doing a nice 20 minute bike session after. And then I made sure to shower, wash my hair and get dressed up to keep my mental state in a better place.
Thursday- Plan: hills or sprints + strength legs Actual: I found a fun (deadly) workout on Pinterest… 5 minute WU 1 min Fast Pace at 2% incline 1 min Fast Pace at 4% incline 1 min Fast Pace at 6% incline 1 min Fast Pace at 8% incline 2 min Easy Pace at 1% incline REPEAT x 2 Cool Down for 5 minutes
Guess how far I made it? Through the first segment.. yeah, I know.. I gave up. I was NOT feeling it today. I was so amped to get my work out in this morning, and I pushed H to finish his work as fast as possible so I could get my run in before work. QUEUE THE MAJOR MOM GUILT! Gahhhh I felt so bad for rushing him just so I could get a run in. With all that forward momentum early in the morning, when it was time for me to go to the gym I wasn’t too stoked on it. It is HARD work juggling teaching kindergarten, running/working out and getting to your job on time. Which I will still be late for… But, I got in some runs today and I did some leg work and arm/back work. I have always had weak arms and back, and I honestly hate the back fat I have going on, I know.. PETTTTYYYYYY, but I don’t like it, so I want to work on it. I want to get STRONG! And have muscles popping back there lol. My legs feel dead, which is odd because I keep cutting my runs short.. must mean I need more rest.
Friday- Plan: XT Actual: I’m starting to feel more ME. And I don’t know what that means, but I have been in a funk this week. So today felt great. After some major drama yesterday, today the wind died down and the humidity was way up. My goal is to get acclimated to it so I couldn’t just hole up in the air conditioned gym and just do cross training. I decided to go out for a slow plod around the complex. At first my legs were tight from yesterday’s strength but they loosened up after my first lap around that Hendrix so excitedly joined me for. He tried to run but it was too much for him and he ended up drinking all my water. So we swung by home, filled up more water and he got on his bike. Completed a lap of the complex and he went in for juice and to chill. I was drowning in sweat but knew I could handle a little more. So I went out and completed 2 miles (altogether) and then headed to the gym for a 7 mile bike ride and strength runner specific training. I love a good challenge, so I found one online to follow. It’s only about 20-25 minutes of strength which is perfect! It’s not dauntingly long and I can do it easily with little to no equipment. While I’ve been doing mostly easy runs, I’ve noticed I don’t like pushing myself on runs. Almost like “ooh don’t get uncomfortable” so that has to stop. And I have to implement more speed sessions and push myself out of my comfort zone. But anyway, just a little over an hour of workout done today and I feel GREAT!
Saturday- Plan: long run 6 miles Actual: as previously predicted (maybe not mentioned) today turned into a rest day. I was hopeful though I could still get in my run. But instead, we went to the beach! And although cloudy it was warm and humid. We brought River who had a BLAST! We played frisbee for hours. But after our beach adventure he was very sick! Why?? Too much sand! Too much water at once!! And maybe too much playing/overheating!! Basically he threw up 4x in the car, just water and kibble and which was terrible and smeared into the seat! (poor guy) And of course made for a slightly sad and frustrating drive home, which is an hour drive… so yeah- stinky too! Once we get home we put him in his crate to just lay down and calm down, which he went in without a fuss and threw up some more. Cleaned it up, took out his (now trashed) bed and laid some towels down… to which some more throw up came up. It had us really worried, so I do some research on “what could be wrong after taking a dog to the beach.” This can obviously lead to a spiral of Google predictions, but I try to stay on the surface of it all. I know he ate quite a bit of sand because of playing frisbee, so when I look up what could happen if a dog eats too much sand, you know what happens?? It can block his BOWELS! Make him throw up, have him tired and loopy and might have to have surgery. So, of course, we were very worried. He hadn’t pooped at all, only thrown up. So.. we gave him little bits of his food mixed with chicken broth, and I mean like less than a 1/4 cup of food at a time since he doesn’t chew well and just gobbles it up (that’s a lab for ya!) Anyway, he did well after we mixed it and we increased a little. He finally pooped! It was completely sand. 😦 This went on for 10 poops!!!) We started mixing a little extra virgin olive oil in with his kibble since it is HARD to poop sand. We wanted to help him out. And it helped him pass it easier, but it was still sand. Luckily the sand here is super soft it doesn’t hurt as bad as San Diego gritty sand. Finally Sunday morning he pooped with no sand! We are still keeping an eye on him closely and monitoring his behavior, but he seems to be back and doing much much better!
Sunday- Plan: REST if long run(6mi) is done Actual: managed .6 miles on the treadmill and 3 miles on the road. I tried to do the treadmill but I feel like I should be able to do 10 min/mi because I used to be able to. But today I couldn’t hang! So then I tried to run outside. And then my son was crying because a friend wanted to play with his new shovel and he didn’t want to share (kid dramaaaaaa) and that halter my run and I couldn’t really get back in the game. But I did a lot this week, a lot of strength and a lot of walking.
Weekly total was still 10 miles! And that was the goal!
You know what has been keeping me motivated lately? More excited to run and gain momentum? MEEEE. Ok, that sounds so self involved… but hear me out. I love posting stories on my Instagram, and the last couple years I post just a picture to capture the feeling of my run on my personal IG account. Well, I put those into the highlights and compile them all then I can rewatch them. So, I have been going through and watching… looking at my progress over the years and seeing my smiles, tears, frustration.. it’s like I remember every single run. And it is brilliant! I remember the first time I hit 10 miles, the first time I ran early in the morning all on my own in the dark… all of those feelings come rushing back to me. It is a great motivator, because what better person to motivate you than yourself?!
Monday– Plan: 2.5-3 miles easy pace to shake off any soreness + CORE Actual: life just got in the way and I couldn’t run- but it might have helped in the long run resting after Sunday. Gotta remember I am not where I once was and it’s good to take it slow!
Tuesday– Plan: XT + UPPER BODY Actual: 3 miles easy (to make up for missing Monday) and some biking! I go through moments of being self conscious of my body- mostly my core sometimes my thighs or arms, and other times of being proud of my body. I’m inbetween here… this is a posed picture! I do have rolls, but I’m happy with where I’m going. And that’s all that matters! But I probably wouldn’t have posted a picture similar to this even last week.
94% humidity and about 75* out, H biked two laps with me and I did the final 1.5 laps on my own while he finished his school
Wednesday– Plan: REST!!! Actual: ~30 minutes strength training! I didn’t do any strength yesterday so I ran over to the gym and did a full body. Then came home and used resistance bands and DANG IT KILLED!
Bright green shirt and green socks for St Pattys Day!
Thursday– Plan: ~35 min run, increase pace every ~10 minutes + CORE + LEGS Actual: REST- allergies took me out! I couldn’t get out of the house because I could hardly breathe. Despite taking allergy medication I still couldn’t be out long. And my freshly washed car is caked in pollen… yay 😒
Friday– Plan: XT light work- stretch it out really good, foam roll and get lots of sleep Actual: 30 min run on the treadmill with negative splits. Starting at 6.0,6.3 and then ending at 6.6
Saturday- Plan: LONG RUN! 65-70 minutes (minimum 6 miles) Actual: We decided to wake up early- for me it was the normal time, and we packed up for the beach. It was a cold morning, low 50s and very cloudy but not windy. And we went to Orange Beach and took River with us as well. It was a lot of fun! A little chilly but it was great seeing how much river loved being there. He got to dig holes, try to jump on bugs and nearly jumped over the wall into the water.
Sunday– Plan: REST Actual: 6 miles!!! The boys went to MayDay Park and I ran from there around Old Daph, it was a nice 60 degree day and just right for a run around the town. It wasn’t too hard, the first half I had in my watch to keep an eye on my HR but then I hit the wrong button and I went to the “cool down” and all hell was just blaaaah but I kept going. I didn’t pay attention to HR but I did increase the pace a little. It felt great. I wasn’t any faster than 10:30/mi but it was nice
Enjoying my little peanut butter cracker snack for after the run ☺️
Total Planned mileage: 11.5 miles
Total mileage: 12.12 miles!!
I am making sure to keep my days filled, but keep mileage low… slowly increasing, last week was just over 10 miles and hoping to make this week 11.5… keeping upping it little by little, then stay flat at 12 miles for a couple weeks and then drop once and then increase. IT’S THE FORMULA FOR WINNERS 🙂
Can I also just put it out there, maybe to toot my own horn? But, I don’t just run these days, I am out walking ALL DAY.. keeping up with a kid or walking the dang dog… so I put in 5-6 miles easy just walking each day on top of running- which is also why I want to take this slow and easy on the increase because I don’t really ever have a day of full vegetation.
