Week 30 (of 52) – 2021 edition!

Running in the dead of summer is HARD! Running while pregnant is REALLY HARD, I feel like I haven’t even got into the thick of it and I’m experiencing issues. Looking into belly bands for support, not just for my bump but for my back and pelvis!

Monday– plan: run 30 minutes

Actual: I just really didn’t feel up to it. I was kinda tired and I just plain didn’t want to. So I didn’t force myself. But I did do some strength and that helped me get moving then the dog got really sick. We think it was a mix of eating something bad and the heat! The heat index has been in triple digits! So poor pup definitely needs help to keep cool.

Tuesday – plan: 2 miles

Actual: 43 minutes and 2.72 miles of run/walk. It went like warm up, run 5 min, walk 3 min (which turned to 7 minutes because I nearly pooped myself! Lol) and then run/walk intervals of 5 min and 3-4 min breaks of walking. I know I need a different pair of shoes, these aren’t supporting me how I need them to, even though I have lots of miles left on them.

Wednesday– I can’t remember what happened here, pretty sure it was too hot. We have had a heat warning all week 100+ degrees and high humidity is not something we can play in

Thursday– Jesse had the day off from work… So I was able to do some tasks that had been put off due to excessive heat and the DOG oh the dog has been so sick from the heat and we think he got into something bad! Wednesday was the first day he didn’t barf!!

Friday– started out with a fast paced walk with the pup.. about 25ish minute walk around the park at a brisk pace to get pumping. Jesse isn’t going in to work again which means I just might be able to do some more errands sans boys! I hope.. it would be nice to get some time to myself. Also, goal is to go swimming and do some laps… Did not swim in pool as planned but did get some swimming in at the river down the road!

Saturday- I planned last night to go on a run, I wasn’t taking no for an answer… From myself or J lol. Although it was a VERY rough night and H had a brown recluse in his bed and then was super stuffed up, he ended up cuddled up in our bed and it was a lot of tossing and turning. Still made it out the door! First a 20 minute walk with the pup then a 3 mile power walk. I tried running but I don’t feel like I have any support from my shoes at all so I just stuck to walking

Sunday- went on a 45 minute walk around the lake which was great! My shoes definitely need to be replaced but I’m faced with getting new running shoes or getting clothes to fit my new pregnant body… Luckily my running/workout clothes still fit well but it’s the regular clothes that I want to feel cute in that I need help with. I found some super cute overalls on ASOS but then I find myself second guessing just how much I would wear them 😰

We went to the river and brought the pup and he did amazing! He got along so well with all the other dogs and kids – which is huge because he hasn’t had much access to other people. When he’s home and someone comes over he always jumps (to say hi) and we haven’t been able to “train it out of him” we were there for around 4 hours and he swam the whole time

Week 29 (of 52) – 2021 edition!

Goals for the week: strength train 3x a week, run 5x a week, stretch 7x a week! Yesterday the bump finally popped! 17 weeks and 3 days and boom there was the bump. And things got quickly more uncomfortable as the night progressed and sleeping was hard and not as fun.

Monday- the cows are taking over my trail and I can’t get a whole lap in and it has been frustrating!!

Tuesday- it was POURING rain, and thunder and lightning was RIGHT above us. There was no way to run. It would’ve been a suicide mission. And then when the heavy rains stopped we found out that one of the storage compartments was leaking! So then we had to deal with that. Basically no run was done today!

Wednesday- got caught in the rain! So only made it a mile, left calf was a little tight and didn’t go back out for a run but did do the remaining in as a walk with the pup!

Thursday- it’s my birthday! And I’ve cried close to 8x till day. Part hormones part I really don’t like my birthday. I don’t know why, but I always get depressed right before and on my day. And when any little thing goes wrong, I burst into tears and it sucks. it was about 81* this morning and 90% humidity I managed 3.2 miles (mostly walking which I hate because I want to run!) I think I need new shoes or something. Or my legs just genuinely dead. They felt so heavy. It was miserable. The cows are still hiding in the bushes too and I can’t run all the way through. My weight increase could also be greatly effecting my running ability. (Pregnancy has be gaining weight and quickly. It’s hard to wrap my head around.. 4.5 months along and still got another 5.5 months to go 😐)

Friday- went swimming in the indoor pool and it felt really great. Did a water aerobics workout as well with a pool noodle

Saturday- dip in the pool but no workout, my legs were feeling a little heavy

Sunday- woke up feeling refreshed! Took River on a walk and then went on my run/walk. It could be the heat and humidity it could be me gaining some weight, it could be my shoes…. it is probably a combination of all three! I’m looking into a belly band and new shoes. 😭 also updating my wardrobe because I usually feel better when I “look” better and in this case actually wear something cute. It’s called self care and this is my version of it lol

After the morning run and breakfast we got ready to go to a river which is down the street. We were there for 6+

Total mileage: ~9 miles

Ran 4x this week, small strength 3x and stretched 5x… I really gotta get into some prenatal yoga! I think it will do me good

Week 28 (of 52) – 2021 edition!

I can’t believe we are half way through the year. It is absolutely insane! Literally less than 6 months till 2022 😭😭

I feel my words coming back to me more, I was really in a writers block for a while, and yesterday I set myself a goal to run every day this week!

Monday- Goal: just get out there for 20 minutes! Sunday I spent the whole day in bed sick.

Actual: 2 mile run done! My left glute started to hurt randomly and I called it at that.

Action shot! Love the swing of my pony tail. I’m debating cutting my hair again.

Tuesday- goal: run 1-2 miles

Actual: Ran/walk the first mile and the second mile I did some speed walking. I ended up doing this in the early afternoon so it was rather hotter than I’m used to for running. But I went out there and got it done!

Wednesday- Plan: get out for 1 mile, 2 would be fantastic!

Actual: made it 3 miles!! Run/walk combo but a lot more running than walking today!

Thursday- plan: run 1 mile for run streak sake!

Actual: Breakdown of events- last night H split open his toe. J is out of town, so it was up to me which isn’t normal. And H freaked out because our “doctor” dad wasn’t here to make him better. Luckily after nearly 8 years together and watching him doctor up the booboos I have learned a thing or two. so anyway, doctored it up, and he of course is limping on it and it’s throbbing and I’m a sucker for a cuddle so he definitely made use of the situation. Anyway, we were up MOST of the night because of either his foot hurt, the bandage fell off or his nose was runny. So by 5:45am I GAVE up. I knew yelling wouldn’t cut it, and he was wide awake, I tossed him his tablet and let him watch some shows hoping he would go to sleep. He didn’t. And so by 6:25 or so I was like turn it off and go to sleep. Then he slept for the next 4 hours. So anyway! That puts me at like 10:30, and I didn’t want to leave for a run and him wake up and freak out I wasn’t there. So I waited…. but then it was 92* out and just stepping outside was a NO NO! So, I put it off, and it said it should’ve gotten cooler after 6, and b cooler it would’ve been 86… but I decided to go a little earlier. And it wasn’t too bad! My legs felt pretty good, despite this being my 4th day in a row running! This is a first for me! And being 17 weeks pregnant- pretty stoked. Yeah I was going super slow… but I was out there!!

Friday- plan: just run!

Actual: 1.5 miles completed, I was dying from my thicker than I thought shirt and my legs were so heavy! it was not a happy run, that’s for sure… but glad I got it done when I did because it is rolling in thunder now

Saturday- I SHOULD HAVE GONE OUT AND RAN, but it was thundering and weather channel was calling for GNARLY thunder, rain and storms. We were stuck inside all day. 😔 but we did have a BBQ and had yummy burgers and a friend came over who has been out of town working! So that was nice!

Sunday- we went to our old neighbors house and had lunch and chatted. It was a ton of fun! My legs are itching to get running again and I have officially popped

My BIG Truth

S • U • R • P • I • S •E !!!

I am pregnant! As I write this I am nearly 17 weeks along, so just over 4 months along. And boy has this whole thing been very surreal. We have been trying since early 2020 and thought it would happen, but with the move and lots of stress and new beginnings we put it to the side and just tried to be happy and content as a family of three. My heart pulled each month as I hoped and wished for a positive test only to be disappointed. After nights of praying I came to the realization that maybe it just wasn’t my time and that was okay. I have ONE great amazing son and that should be enough. Within the next month we were blessed with a positive and I was beyond thrilled and also so scared. A few family members and our closest of friends know, but I haven’t made a post or social media breakthrough on it.

I wanted to keep an accurate and brutally real “diary” of sorts about working out while pregnant. While most know we usually keep pregnancy mum until we reach the second trimester. Partly to have something for yourself and also because first trimester is a high risk time and a lot of women miscarry during this time. To have to mourn in public is something I can’t imagine.

(I started this quite a while ago…) So, let’s see… as I am writing this I am almost 9 weeks along. Which is not far along but this time my butt is being kicked! From about 5.5 weeks till present day… I’ve been sick every day, exhausted and moody. Oh, let’s not forget extraordinarily gassy. Burps, farts… all of it. My goal was to be able to run throughout the whole pregnancy. With H, I was not active (not active before or during pregnancy, I found my fitness well after him) but I was working a restaurant job where walking 6+ hours a night was a daily thing. And I didn’t have terrible sickness, some smell aversions but not bad. This time around? A WHOLE NEW GAME.

I wake up in the morning either feeling like I didn’t sleep at all or I feel great. Which lasts for about an hour and a half. And then it goes downhill. I have bad headaches, aches and pains, cramps at times, and nausea. Then, there’s the never ending hunger. Give me cheese, give me bread. Give me meat. It’s all I really want. Some days a big bowl of meaty pasta – satiated by a huge piece of lasagna – makes me happiest of all. I find myself dragging myself to the gym, I don’t want to go at all. But I know it’s important to stay active and I’ll feel better in the long run. I already feel like I’ve gained weight- which to be honest I’m having trouble coping with. I worked so hard to lose the weight that knowing I have to put it on makes me scared. But I know I can get back to where I was also.

Fears: I have experienced a lot of dizziness and tunnel vision in the early stages (5-8weeks). So I am too afraid to run outside due to heat and humidity. I’ve stayed inside in the gym where I can regulate the temperature and get help if needed. I’ve told my doctors about the dizziness, it’s common and they say to keep hydrated and eat. I feel like I’m never not eating. Which makes me worried I will gain TOO much weight. So I’ve tried to keep in mind “I am not eating for two” but it’s hard sometimes. And I’ll give in and eat what I am craving. it hasn’t been sugar or chocolate oddly lol.

So, in the middle of the first trimester I am aiming to be active daily, run or workout at least 3x a week and get good sleep. I luckily walk ~30 minutes a day with the puppy and then he also gets to play a lot of frisbee. I feel best when I’m outside in fresh air and have been loving the beach. I’m already needing to get a bigger bathing suit top. Each day is hit or miss, I never WANT to run or work out, but I’m ALWAYS glad I do afterwards. I don’t want to it to feel like I HAVE to run or work out, but sometimes I have to force myself. I have my goals and I know that I need to stick to them to have a healthy pregnancy and baby.

10 weeks along- I’ve noticed that after I run or work out it only takes about an hour before I am absolutely EXHAUSTED. Like I HAVE to lay down and rest. And if I don’t, I’m not myself. I’ve been trying to keep my running up because I know it’s good for me.

2 days shy of 3 months- I really thought I would’ve popped already

😂it’s more of a food baby than a baby baby – just finished grubbing down on chicken and rice

Week 15+- ive had some mental trouble, being away from family and friends is tough. Going through these physical changes are tough. And I’m just trying to work my way through. From 2017 to 2021 I was either trying to lose weight or maintain. I learned to love my fit body and was so proud of it. So as I gain weight and it feels like just fat, and no baby bump really… it has been extremely tough on me. I’ve tried to voice this to J, but it isn’t being received well. And it makes me feel bad, because I can’t figure out the correct words to really use. I just feel chubby. And it doesn’t help I don’t want to do any running because it’s just too dang humid. But if I don’t, I suffer more than anything. We are now in Silverhill which means I don’t have access to the gym anymore, so my only choice is really to go outside

Just chub! I havent popped. 15 weeks and 3 days

Week 14/15- Coming to the realization that for the next couple years my body really isn’t mine. I don’t have a specific plan for this baby like I did with my first. I planned to exclusively breastfeed for minimum a year (ended up nursing for 2 years and co-sleeping for 3!) and to co-sleep and be this oh so perfect mom. When this time around, I hope I can breastfeed for at least 6 months but I am not going to agonize over it because it made it so I gave up a big portion of myself for a long time. And I really had to combat a lot of depression by not having my “me” time. This time around while my absolute goal is to make sure my baby is healthy and happy, I refuse to put myself second or third or anything other than 1. I will make sure I advocate for my mental and physical health!

16 week update – I was able to really voice my fears to my best friend about the weight gain and I’m feeling a little more like myself, and popping a bit more, and learning to love my body more and just grow with grace.

Week 27 (of 52) – 2021 edition!

Monday – monitoring storm Elsa and while I definitely should have run! I didn’t 😦 and I kick myself in the butt for not taking advantage of the clear weather! You always regret a missed work out!

Tuesday – it rained all night and most of the day, but we had to get out of the house as weve been cooped up all weekend! We went to Academy (sporting good store), Ross and Walmart and my feet are definitely needing more support than what I’m getting from my current insoles 😩 it’s making my back hurt!

Wednesday– plan: run 3 miles + yoga/stretching Actual: I was afraid it wouldn’t let up on rain, it rained all night long and wasn’t letting up at all! But by 8:30 it stopped and didn’t look like it was going to start again so I went out at 9am in the humidity. Now I’m not running on the streets so much as some trail runs around the park. Uneven ground and jumping puddles. I did quite a bit of walk/run intervals but had a great time nonetheless.

Thursday – plan: workout video – strength

Actual: I was able to make it into town and turn in my paperwork for the gym! Jesse stayed home today and it was nice so we took the puppy to the lake to swim and fetch sticks. And while out there just in the sun, I literally was sweating as if I was running or working out. It was insane!! Then I cooled off and me and H went to the lake to swim and cool off. Sooo, I sweated like crazy lol, but not from an activity!

Friday- plan: run 3 miles

Actual: 3 glorious miles! Everything really ticked into place after the first mile and everything felt super smooth. It was humid but there was a little cool wind that helped cool me off. Still dripping sweat and getting looks of crazy from neighbors because I was running in this heat.

Saturday- rest

Sunday- run 4 miles

Actual: I felt sick the entire day! And to top it off, exhausted! I barely walked anywhere, I mostly just slept and couldn’t really be bothered to do much. The weather agreed as it was rainy and stormy most of the day. Hoping to feel better tomorrow to get in a run!

Week 26 (of 52) – 2021 edition!!

Monday – Wednesday: spent literally deep cleaning the sh*t out of the apartment and emptying it up of our things. So there was definitely a lot of squats and lunges and lifting things! I hate moving, I always lose something! This time it’s my Fitbit charger and garmin watch. It could either be in storage or in one of our bags we have yet to unpack.

Thursday-Friday: spent absolutely exhausted from cleaning, and trying to return internet equipment as well as putting away clothes and such – living in a smaller space is challenging in that we have SO MUCH STUFF! And everything needs a home, so we need to either make special places and have bins or throw it away! (Donate or store it)

Saturday: I finally managed to go on a 2 mile run! There’s almost a full 1 mile loop around the park, it

Sunday- I’ve had a really really hard time mentally lately, just struggling a lot with my self worth And love. Goals for next week to work on this: write a little more about my feelings. Run/workout every day. Stretch and lift weights. Talk to a friend. Wash face daily (normally I do, but since moving I have lost my face wash and so my routine has been off). Get out of the house 3x minimum with Hendrix. Do some fun stuff! Go to the trampoline park. Go to the pool. Go to the lake. Go do something!!

Week 24&25 (of 52) – 2021 edition!

Monday-

Tuesday- AMRAP legs, arms, core! 30 minutes and it was killer

Wednesday- 30 minute hills workout- walking

Thursday-

Friday- 1 mi run warm up, strength and then 10 min speed walk cool do

Saturday- I’m not sure what I’ve told, weeks and months are blending in together but we are moving out of apartment living and into a travel trailer. and they means a lot of storing things in the cargo trailer and pairing down on a lot of things. We are out next weekend so we spent today packing up a lot of thing and waiting out the storm to take things to the trailer. Amazing how much we accumulated!

Sunday- the problem with not updating this daily 😂 I can’t remember a thing! I’m pretty sure this was spent with a mix of pool and moving!

Week 25- Last full week in an apartment:

1. Got Fired

2. Cried and worried a lot to realize we will be okay and figure it out3. Kept moving and packing. 3. Stormed and

4. Kept moving and packing.

Doing all the detail cleaning which really really sucks. Also Had to lift a lot of heavy things and that was my strength work for the week. Pretty sure I did a leg and run workout once this week but also can’t remember fully what I did, But I do have memories of barely being able to walk on Thursday!

Week 23 (of 52) – 2021 edition!

A day late! Sorry!!

Monday- SICK – I started to not feel well over the weekend and it turns out it ran through the house and our neighbors! Icky feeling, achy almost cold flue like!

Tuesday- I was starting to feel much better, so I decided to run outside for the first time in a few weeks and the humidity has gone waaaaay up! It felt great, like really great! And this was before the major heat wave hit!

Wednesday- I chose nap over run. But I wanted to do something. Getting over the sick and then running a little, I guess today I just needed to rest!

Thursday- hendrix really wanted to come on my “next run” so I invited him out today despite the humidity getting exponentially higher. We drove to Old Daphne (1 mi away lol) with his bike and took off. About 6 minutes in it started raining so we took shelter under trees. Somehow we complete 1.5 miles in about 18 minutes (not too bad, I’ll take it!!) and we ended up at Mayday Park. We found a lizard (happened to be an alligator lizard) and poor Hendrix got his finger bit. The lizard must’ve been so scared because it would NOT let go. I tried everything to get the lizard off and Hendrix only shed a couple years, boy he was being strong… I finally got the lizard off and threw it across the grass. Then it started pouring rain again and we tried running up the hills to the car and stopping under trees every now and then. Finished off our run/bike ride/ walk adventure with McDonald’s. I was famished and we haven’t gone to the store to get groceries so we had nothing to make at home 😂

Friday- prepping for Camping – jesse now has fridays off! So we did some grocery shopping and then mostly the rest of our camp prep. Extra this and that or things specifically for the camper – like special toilet paper

Saturday- we finally got to set up the camper but forgot a lot of things still lol. Back and forth we go driving to the site and back to apartment. Even after we went back and forth- we still forgot things, but we made the most of what we had! Dance party at night since there was no option to watch anything and just chatted the night away.

Sunday- we walked down to the lake with River, dropped H off at the park with some new kids he made friends with and Jesse tried his hand at fishing while river tried swimming and also jumping to get the fishing reel from jesse…. he’s still. Learning! Lol but it was awesome to see River dove into the water. When we were first learning about training dogs, a lot of the guys taught their pups to swim- when they were really really young. But River caught on on his own- he is nearly 9 months so I assume natural instincts just came over. He had so much fun chasing sticks and fish around. I swear he’s been a completely different dog since! In a good way, like he’s fulfilled! He LOVED swimming so much. It was awesome

While I only did 2 days of actually gym. Friday through Sunday I sweated heavily everyday day prepping and getting the camper set up. And Sunday I did do a 3 mile walk. So I’m going to call this extra successful.

Week 22 (of 52) – 2021 edition!

Monday- happy Memorial Day! 5-4-3-2-1 workout plus some arm and core strength

Tuesday- we drove all around and got nothing done – but the trailer was delivered and then after that we were pooped from the heat and I didn’t worn out and instead we went swimming with the neighbors.

Wednesday- pool took precedence again

Thursday- I wasn’t letting today get away from me!! 1.5 miles on the tread (wanted more but my socks were slipping low and cutting me) then did some strength workouts. My biggest insecurity is my back! So I tried working on strengthening that. And then ended the night with some bike

Friday- went to the gym with my neighbor! Did some elliptical and leg workouts.

Saturday- woke up SO SORE! I must’ve done a few sets of legs because my legs haven’t felt that sore in a while! We hooked up the trailer and unpacked some stuff and got Mellow Mushroom to finish the night. Favorite pretzels and pizza place EVER!

Sunday- woke up achy all over. Something isn’t quite right and I’m not feeling 100%. Sadly had to take the day off from the gym. Trying to stay hydrated and rested

Week 21 (of 52) – 2021 edition!

Monday- my legs were a bit more dead than I thought they would be from my Sunday run. So I ended up just taking H to the park and did some chores before work.

Tuesday- 42ish minute run/walk which resulted in 3.3 miles

I even put the wrong mileage on but oh well lol

Wednesday- spent the day cleaning. Cleaned car, cleaned house, cooked pulled pork and worked.

Thursday- 4 miler! And it was scorching hot and humid so of course I ran inside. But I miss running outside but it was just too much. Taking the dog for a walk left me sweating and he stops ever 2 ft to sniff ! Lol

Friday- the pool finally reopened so we swam for a few hours in the morning and then I worked.

Saturday- tried to go for a long run, ended up doing 2 miles- 1 mile warm up and then 1 mile “as fast as I could” which sadly turned out to be 8:36/mi. I find it funny since just last year I ran a 10k with an average pace of 8:26… and then today I was dying at 8:36 pace. After running we napped and then went to the pool for 6 hours!

I’ve been partaking in this fun little challenge, getting 150 minutes a week of exercise. This app PAYS you to exercise. Download Paceline and enter code RXLGXK. It’ll help give me a little something too 😀 I’ve found that Fitbit works better with it than garmin. Even though they both sync, garmin doesn’t seem to transfer over the minute, which sort of annoying!!
