I SIGNED UP FOR A MARATHON

So many thoughts going on in my head. Am I excited? YES! Am I scared? OMG YES! But you know what’s been overwhelming is the amount of support I’ve received from fellow runners telling me they are there for me with any questions I might have! And my two best running friends are planning to be course support for long runs and run with me! Plus (hopefully) their schedules work out to be able to support and cheer for me come race day!

Hopefully you will all enjoy following closely to the training and how much goes into it! As excited as I am, I am deathly afraid and have already started making up excuses as to why I should defer!!! But I won’t, unless I’m injured, I want to see this through.

This is my reasoning for signing up! THIIIS!

You can follow me on Instagram @runjacrun for day to day updates! Right now I have to focus on the 10K which is hard now since my mind is wrapping my head around 26.2 miles!!

To Run or Not to Run- 26.2 miles + discount on races

Today, and today only is the sale for the Rock n Roll Marathon Series! The San Diego marathon price is a whopping $69. That’s it! Like, might as well, because this is extremely well priced!

I turned to IG to ask if I should sign up or not, and overwhelming response was YES DO IT. I turned to my good friend, Tommy, and asked him to tell me all there is to know about training for a marathon and what to expect and what he wishes he had known.

First thing he says to me is, “Why do you want to run one..?” My immediate answer was to ramble on about how I have always wanted to run a marathon, it is a huge challenge but I want to conquer it and even though it seems like it is impossible I know in my heart I can do it.” After I typed that out it was a no brainer, I need to complete a marathon. And this is a perfect opportunity.

He told me to prepare myself, it will be hard, i will break down and cry and doubt everything; but when i cross that finish line it will be the best feeling (in the world).

He also told me how RECOVERY was key, stretching, yoga and foam rolling are just as important as running. And don’t skip out on the LONG runs.

I have even made a list of pros and cons, because I am weird like that, but I made it look pretty!

At the end of the day I know I can finish this, but I need to make sure I have the support of my family before I commit. And so, a talk must happen tonight! Do you have any pros and cons to running a first time long distance race? Please share tips also!!

The Battle to Exercise

I got this idea from life, but also from The Runner Beans. Which by the way, I love reading Charlie’s blog, and I actually started her blog from DAY 1 a couple months ago- I have been following her on Instagram for quite a while. I read it during my downtime at work. But this one post definitely hit me in the feels!

I would like to preface this with, I have a super supportive partner but at times everyone can feel like they are being put in second place, or they aren’t getting enough of their own time to do their hobbies.

It doesn’t happen often, but it does happen, and maybe it happens to you too. I was met with an argument about running, working out, just plain doing too much. It usually happens between my partner and me, because I wake up early and then end up wanting to sleep earlier. I sacrifice sleeping in to work out but also to attain my goals and still hold my family in a high priority.

However, it isn’t just my partner who gives me a hard time, but even people at work who just don’t understand. “Why pay to run a race when you can just sit and enjoy a beer? Why pay money?” When I answer, “Because it is fun to get out there with like-minded people and run” I am usually met with blank stares. But there are the few people who will pull me aside and tell me I am an inspiration, and even if they give me a hard time; they are actually envious that I have found a passion to run and explore that they don’t have. I choose to spend my money on workouts, gear and activities; other people choose to spend it on food and drinks and going out- and that is fine! That just isn’t my highest priority. I don’t drink. I do enjoy food, but I would rather run a race and win a shiny medal than pay $80 for a dinner.

At this time in my life, I am more interested in health and saving money; but for others they are interested in going out and drinking. And, sometimes that puts a riff in a friendship. As for my restaurant job, I love everyone there, and they fully support me running but also give me crap for never staying after a shift to drink a beer. It has become a game for everyone to try to tempt me with a free drink. But they are always met with, ” I am planning to wake up at 5am tomorrow to run.” I don’t talk about running much there, but I have unknowingly inspired a couple people to start working out! Which is sooooo awesome. They come up to me each week asking how I am doing, how my training is and proceeding to tell me that they finally hit a certain mile goal and even have asked for suggestions! I am blown away by love from them, it is so cool to hear that others are getting on the healthy train.

Back to rant—
Now, I completely get the whole “why do you have to wake up so early and work out” from my partner, because it often leaves him alone at night when I tuck into bed and immediately pass out after half a second. But, working out in the morning makes me so happy, it sets the tone for my day, it makes me sweat and get it all out and then I can do what I need for the rest of the day. I honestly feel so much more focused. So, when I do compromise, I TRY to stay up later, I try to not let working out get in the way of our time together, but honestly… when I am tired, I am tired. And there is no way around it. It is either, work out early in the morning or right after work.. No matter what I will be tired. But I would rather be sleepy from a hard day’s work than grumpy because I haven’t been able to get my stress out!

Sometimes, it stinks having defend your hobbies… but other times you do need to look back and see what your behavior/ tendencies/ mood has been. For instance, I know I am a grouch if I don’t get in enough work outs, so if there is a particular filled up social week coming up, I have to forfeit the workouts for it. Do you have to deal with any backlash to your hobbies? It is always important to remember that as much as you need to be there for your family and friends; you have to be there for yourself too! Self care is soooo important, and that is my main argument. Running is a form of self care and therapy for me, I need it more than it needs me.

Week 3 Training

Training has been going well, this is the first training cycle I haven’t been so hyper focused on making sure I get every single run done without fail, I am being a little kinder to myself. Those other cycles, I would burn the candle at both ends and be exhausted. I still am tired at times, but I am trying to be more flexible and forgiving. I think I should be in really good shape to get a sub-54 on my 10K in ONE MONTHS TIME.

I finally made the time to find out what speeds on the treadmill I should be going to.. I was just kind of winging it and trying to look at my watch to figure out the speed, but this treadmill pace calculator might be more helpful!

Monday- Plan: Cross Train– 10 miles on bike and leg work out
Actual: 2 miles on the ARC Trainer (hills option) and 6 miles on the bike (level 5) with some arms, legs and butt strength training. I hopped on the machines and tried some out- it was fun and needed.

Baby biceps!

Tuesday- Plan: REST

Wednesday- Plan: 5 x (800m RP (6.9 treadmill/ 8:41 min/mi) + 400m R (3.5 treadmill))
Actual: 4.5 miles total! Completed 5 rounds of 800m repeats and ran between 6.9 and 7.2!

Thursday- Plan: Run with Brooke
Actual: Brooke had to bail, she got into a car accident the other week and it was the only day to have the car looked at and inspected apparently. So, instead of that I decided to go on a 4.5 mile EASY pace run. It was easy-hard, I kept the pace in the low 9’s and despite having a bit of a cough and some hard times breathing I was successful! I keep telling myself that if I want to improve pace, I need to get used to being uncomfortable. But these paces are starting to feel more comfortable as I keep hitting them. I also incorporated some strength into my run, halfway through my run I did 2 rounds of 20 step-ups, 10 push-ups, 10 triceps dips. And even got a “YOU GO GIRL!” from a kind lady walking her dog. The last half mile I pushed myself to hit 8:42 min/mi which is about 10 seconds faster than what I need for the race, it was HARD, but it was exhilarating.

Stopped to take pics at the rose bushes. I always overdress for runs! If there’s no sun, I think I’ll freeze, but within 5 minutes of running im overheating! 😩

Friday- REST

Saturday- Plan: 7 miles long run
Actual: 2 miles my chest has been hurting a lot, I’m coughing like crazy and have congestion. Unfortunately I tried to push through it, and it but me in the butt. I had to turn around and return home after 20 minutes, honestly I wanted to stop 2 minutes in to the run.. but I made myself get a couple miles in.

Smiling through the sickness

Sunday– Plan: 4-5 miles Easy Run Pace- but instead planning to do a TEMPO Run. I have been skipping these since they land on Tuesdays, and my Tuesdays just won’t allow time for a work out. (working 15 hours is enough time out of the house, thank you very much) Going to aim for 3 miles at Tempo pace, which should be 8:51 min/mi and then a 3 minute walk! I am going to implement walk breaks in between to give myself a break and have something to look forward to.
Actual: SKIPPPED 😩 I’m going to do tempo run tomorrow

Overall really not happy with my training this past week, but my health needs to take priority. Still sucks counting the mileage I made and what I missed.

Total mileage: 11 miles

Mental Strength

Each training cycle I start I always waiver in the mental strength of it all. I get overwhelmed with training and life and often feel defeated when I have to miss a workout or it doesn’t go the way I want it to. These are some of the things I use to cope with life’s demanding schedule as well improving my mental strength during those tough workouts I don’t want to do or finish.

One thing to remember, YOU GET TO GO TO THE GYM/ YOU GET TO WORK OUT!
Some people don’t have the luxury of doing these things, and this is YOUR time. You put in the work for yourself to see the end result. You don’t have to go to the gym or complete that run, you GET TO!

How to Increase Mental Strength

  1. Practice being grateful.
  2. Practice mindfulness- stay in the moment be present
  3. Act β€œas if” – act as who you want to be, become that person. When you change your behavior, your thoughts and emotions will follow (directly from Psychology Today)
  4. Remember you WHY- this will help to push you through your training
  5. It is OK to ask for help
  6. Picture yourself crossing the finish line how you want to cross it. IE- I want to cross the finish line in a dead sprint, and I try to each time.. even though I look back at pictures and it looks like I am barely moving!
  7. Celebrate the small victories- soooo important, celebrate getting up and doing that early morning work out! Celebrate that you ate healthy that day and didn’t overeat on cookies! Celebrate that you took that walk during lunch time or you completed your whole work out!
  8. Repeat a mantra that speaks to you!- I tend to focus on one each cycle, but sometimes it helps to have a new one each day. For my half marathon training, my mantra was “your mind gives up before your body.” that was until my body completely gave up on me and I needed to pull through no matter what.
  9. Don’t panic! Come to the understanding that not every workout or run will be perfect. Sickness might/will definitely happen, having to skip a workout might happen, but trust in the plan. We all go through a panic phase a couple weeks before the race, wondering if we are ready for it or not, you are!
  10. Breathe deeply, meditate, relaxxxxxx… I am not an elite athlete, I won’t ever be, so I don’t need to stress this hard. But I do stress because I want to be 1000% prepared for the race and know I gave it my all. The worst feeling is going into a race under prepared and knowing you didn’t give it your all.
When you want something bad enough, you are going to do what it takes! Find that passion and hold on with all your might!!
This is soooo true, so many people ask how I was able to this or that or get through this hardship, and it is literally that I will not accept the answer “no” and I will not let myself stay beaten for long. I will always get up and fight for what I want. I am that 1% that comes through on the other end of a battle with a smile on my face knowing I conquered the challenge.
Just do it.
#truth
I need this on a sweatshirt like PRONTO!
I often wake up before my alarm clock ready to go to the gym or on a run,and when I have that momentum I do not push it away, I go fast and go hard!
Very true to understand, I am not always motivated- but I am determined.

Winter Body

Weight fluctuates, it is totally normal. But I am feeling a bit bigger than normal, and it is effecting me mentally. Is it the number on the scale? Not really, I was actually surprised it was less than I thought, but I don’t feel my best. It is most likely related to the eating unhealthily, overeating, mindless snacking and eating late at night. I have only gained ~3 pounds, but mentally I feel much bigger. Is this early onset of an eating disordered thing? Probably not, but I don’t want to let myself slip and look at the scale next and see 15 pounds of weight gain. You are probably thinking, β€œgirl, you work out plenty and this is just a couple pounds.” But for me, when I tend to let things slide they go downhill FAST. That is how I gained 50+ pounds before. I started letting it affect my mood and just continued to eat and not look at the scale. So, I wanted to dig a little deeper into what was going on. Not that much deeper, but I did find some information from Forbes.

I know that I have been eating much later at night and eating poorly. I haven’t been eating many fruits and veggies. I have been eating more fast convenient foods and candy/ice cream. Is it just because of the changing seasons? Partially. Or because from Halloween to New Years there are so many holidays based around food and gatherings, it is hard to stay consistent.

Reasons why you might be overeating/ seeing some extra pounds on the scale:

  1. You are DEHYDRATED.
  2. Indulging in sugary warm drinks that put add a couple extra hundred calories. Doesn’t hot chocolate and more hot coffee sound so nice when it is cold? Yep… well add that in o your daily caloric needs and you could be adding another 500 calories- which could lead to extra pounds in the coming weeks and months!
  3. Less Active- let’s face it, it is cold and gets darker earlier. You just want to tuck in and cuddle up on the couch with cookies, you aren’t running down the beach or playing in the waves. Even if you work out, what do you do the rest of the day? Are you continuing to be active, or do you just want to plop down and sit?
  4. Winter= weight gain- when you go in with this mentality, you will gain weight! I firmly believe, whatever you put into the atmosphere you will get. So, if I continue to think I will gain weight, I surely will. So, this is for me and everyone else who wants to watch their waistline- believe you will maintain or even chisel away more and make the effort to do so! Your mind is so powerful, if you keep believing it will happen!
  5. That coworker keeps bringing in cookies, muffins, brownies…etc! Not only is that extra snack going to affect you, it also is a way to spread germs! How many people in the office are coughing and sneezing? For me, its quite a few…. And when you bring something to the office for people to share, usually people just go in with bare hands and spread their germs!
  6. Drinking- during the holidays it is even easier for us to open a bottle of wine, or go out with friends and drink. Well, those are all empty calories that don’t help at all.

So, what am I going to do about this little feeling I have?

I am not going to STRESS over it too much, but I am going to make some small changes to help me. This blog isn’t meant to solicit not indulging or diet fads, it is just me vocalizing something I am uncomfortable with. I am not going on a crazy restrictive diet, I just want to be more mindful of what I am putting into my body.

So, I will begin with drinking more water; I seem to have not been filling up my water bottle as much as I was when it was hot out, so I am going to aim for 72 ounces of water. My water bottle is around 24 ounces, so really its only 3 of them. I love water, so I don’t really consider this much of a challenge, more so just remember to drink.

Stash good WHOLE food snacks in the office. Like fruits and veggies. I am a sucker for bananas and apples. So, I tend to have a banana for my morning snack and an apple in the afternoon. As for veggies, I want to make it more of a salad for lunch. I have been REALLY lacking on salads, so I think it is time to reintroduce them, plus they are way cheaper to bring from home instead of eating out every lunch (there’s those extra calories!)

Take walks during lunch break, because I am one of those people that think β€œoh I just ran 10 miles, I am totally ok to have this 10,000 calorie meal and just sit on my butt all day.” WRONG, you can’t do that.. just because you worked out doesn’t mean you get to eat like crap all day. We need to remember to treat our bodies like an engine, and if you want a finely tuned engine, you better give it the right nutrients to continue working how you want it to.

Not only do I want to shed those couple pounds I gained, I want to stay away from being sick! Much harder when you have a kid in preschool who brings  home EVERYTHING, but one thing I can start doing is not dipping into the extra cookies and brownies that coworkers bring in. Even as adults, some don’t wash their hands enough, or cough and then reach into the snacks (ew). So, I am staying away from those!

For me, dairy is not my friend… but I love yogurt and ice cream and cheese! What is a girl to do? Keep it in moderation… I notice that when I do eat more cheese than normal, not only does my stomach hurt a lot and I get bloated, but I crave it more and more and I tend to gain weight quickly. For a while when I was losing weight, I stayed away from cheese and I felt one million times better; so I think for health reasons, I will need to stay away, as much as I love cheese. Yogurt will have to be a little less, but I freaking love vanilla yogurt with granola and sliced strawberries. It is like the BEST dessert ever!! But, I suppose I shouldn’t eat it at 9pm before bed.

I tend to like schedules, and thorough plans; for me I like to follow an intermittent fasting schedule. Not something super strict, but it does help me stay focused. I haven’t been hyper-focused on it for quite some time, in fact probably since April or so I stopped. I like to stick to a 16 hours off, 8 hours on. So from 11am to 7pm I can eat. After 7 try not to eat. This is sometimes difficult. Ant I am totally OK if I eat a little after 7, as sometimes it just has to happen. Sometimes, dinner isn’t ready! But, I think it is important to try not to eat so many snacks late at night.

I hardly drink, but over the Thanksgiving weekend I had more drinks than I had all year. Which was 3 glasses of wine and 2 mixed drinks. (not much, but this is a snowball effect!) Gotta keep it in control. Plus, I don’t love getting drunk, in fact, I didn’t get drunk at all… it was nice to just enjoy some wine and cook.

What do you do in the winter time to make sure you don’t gain too much weight?

Thanksgiving Week Training

It is a short week at work- HOORAY!! Four day weekend coming up, so excited.

Monday- Plan: Cross Train- bike 10 miles and core work
Actual: Biked for 10 miles in 42:40! Which is way better than last time’s 47:18!! Oh my gosh, I totally thought I only improved by 2 minutes, but that is a lofty PR! I also did do some core work also! Woo hoo!

Before workout haha, but after I wasn’t as sweaty as I would have been if it were running

TUESDAY- Plan: Speed Work: 4x 800m RP @ 8:50 min/mi and 400m REST (walk) and arms and back strength
Actual: SKIPPED- my very best friend eloped and her mom planned a surprise congrats party. They drove down from San Francisco thinking it was just for a long weekend for thanksgiving and all her closest friends and family were waiting at her parents house to celebrate. Hendrix and I were up VERY late and had a lot of fun.

WEDNESDAY- Plan: Easy Run: 3 miles @ 10:00 min/mi and foam rolling and stretching
Actual: 3.1 miles on the treadmill, played with speed and did some walking on incline and then running 8:45-10:15 min/ mi. I had to play with the speed to keep myself entertained.

Thursday- Plan: RACE DAY! 5 miles- not trying to race race, but try to keep pace between 9:45-10 min/mi
Actual: 5 miles DONE!
We ran slow and it was nice taking in the sites, we ran around 9:51 average. My last mile I picked up the pace and hit some 8’s! And it felt pretty effortless which means my speed training is definitely helping!

FRIDAY- Plan: REST
Actual: Rest and some cocktails with neighbors

SATURDAY- Plan: Long Run: 6 miles at 9:50 min/mi with a 10 minute strong finish 9:05-9:20
Actual: 6 miles at 9:52 min/mi pace and semi strong finish- but really I didn’t keep track πŸ˜€

Slight hungover munchies… maple donuts were on the menu!
Then needed protein and got a cheese and egg wrap haha πŸ˜†

SUNDAY- Plan:4-5
Actual: hiked 5 miles
at Daley Ranch and enjoyed nature to the fullest. It was a great way to rejuvenate.

A nice little trail

Happy Thanksgiving!

What are you thankful for? We often take for granted all that we have, but at least one day a year we can reflect back on what we are thankful for.

I am thankful for having awesome friends. Who support me and join me in my love for running

I am thankful for my family and their wonderful support and love

I am thankful for the roof over my head and how close we are to the beach! (I don’t think I could ever feel ungrateful for the location we live, until a tsunami hits πŸ˜‚)

I am thankful for my health, my body and all it’s capable of!

I am thankful for YOU, my dear readers!

Turkey trot Race Recap:

I woke up without my alarm at 4:45am, 45 minutes before my actual alarm!! I tried to go back to sleep, but just laid there and stayed warm. I ended up getting up around 5:15am and realized I already had some texts from Christine. We finalized where we were going to meet and I started getting ready. It wasn’t raining when I woke up but after checking the weather it said showers coming soon. My mom got me some super comfy high waisted leggings that are thick, but not too thick or the fleece kind (those are more for snowy running) and my hot pink tank top with my new rain coat. I coated my feet in body glide so I wouldn’t get any blisters and put on my hot pink balega socks.

I headed out the door just before 6am and drove down to meet Christine and her husband, Martin. first time meeting Martin, and he was so much fun! Our paces match pretty closely but Christine is a little slower. I decided I wouldn’t race today since we have a long day of cooking and hosting so I welcomed the slower pace and didn’t feel bad about it at all.

Before the race
Before the race

The course was really nice and there were no up hills except one small part at mile 3, not bad at all! There was some slight drizzle that was welcomed but that’s about it. I ended up heating up around mile 2, which I kinda figured would happen and so had to take off my jacket and wrap it around my waist. The support was awesome, the company was super fun and we chatted the whole time and waved at the other people cheering us on. It was one of the MOST fun races I’ve done, probably due to the company I was with.

The last mile I started picking up the pace, we stayed in the 10’s for most of the race and then I pulled away from Christine. I can feel the speed intervals are really really helping!! My paces felt so easy and it’s nice to see so much improvement already. I was hitting some 8’s and really low 9’s!!

Since I pulled ahead I decided to set up and take pictures of the others crossing the finish line and right after they crossed it started pouring rain! So we ran under some shelter, grabbed a coffee and started walking quickly up to our cars.

I hope you all have a great Thanksgiving!! Whether or not you ran or worked out, count your blessings and have a great day. 😊

Turkey Trot Prep and Race!

I have signed up for the Oceanside Turkey Trot 5 mile race. And I am EXCITED! Except, it is supposed to rain.

Weather is predicting: (from Tuesday screenshot) edit: weather is still projected this way!

Yep- that’s some high percentage of rain β˜”οΈ

Actual weather:

What I am wearing:

  1. Body Glide- according to “How to Dress for Rainy Runs” on Runners World it is said to wear anti-chafing body glide on your feet to prevent blisters- I find this BRILLIANT and wouldn’t have thought to put it there! Blisters are the worst.
  2. Visor/Hat- might have to purchase a visor because my head often does get HOT and it’s only supposed to be in the 50’s.
  3. Rain Jacket– My new New Balance rain jacket will be making an appearance this day, and I am hoping it doesn’t make me overheat.
  4. Tight leggings– because loose clothing will create more friction, which will lead to chafing!
  5. Tight and light weight tank top– don’t want to overheat with my rain jacket, so I will be wearing probably a pink tank! (I love pink)
  6. Old shoes– not super old, but not the main ones I use for long runs either. I assume they will get WET, and I don’t want to even think about not being able to run or work out during the long weekend.
  7. Waterproof the shoes– I have some spray I have used on suede shoes to prevent water damage, so I am going to do this for my shoes too, maybe it will help!
  8. Trash Bag– to put on and keep clothes dry before race
  9. Change of clothes- for after the race! I may or may not change, but might as well be prepared.

If I am missing anything, please let me know in the comments below! This is my FIRST rainy race and I am so excited. I hope that the rain makes it so I run even faster to get it done, but if not, that’s OK! I hope to get some fun pictures too!

What I assume I’ll look like πŸ˜‚

The Lingering Sickness

It must just be that time of the year, I know it is- where our immune systems are low and we easily contract the sniffles and snot, the coughs and yuck. *sigh* what a mess, I don’t feel run down yet but…

I can’t seem to get completely over this sickness! The runny nose started on Friday and has progressed to a cough. It has me so upset, I just want to be healthy and able to work out! So, looks like I have to take it easy this week too. Next week is Thanksgiving and I am taking part in the Turkey Trot 5 mile run- so I must be healthy for that! (especially so I can eat all the foods after!)

Monday- Plan: ARC train for 45 minutes
Actual: I felt like I had some energy so I tried the 5-4-3-2-1 cardio session! I completed about 90% of it and modified the speeds lower. This is definitely a workout I gotta come back to and test my endurance. I also completed some of the strength training, like front squats and some burpees and high knees and mountain climbers. These quick sessions get me more sweaty than anything outdoors. It’s kinda weird!

You really can’t tell just how sweaty I am, but I was DRENCHED!!1
speed sessions that look like you just were leisurely running, when in reality, I was going so FAST and then slow, and then FAST! haha

Tuesday- Plan: REST and eat some delicious Indian Food with an old coworker.
Actual: I really did rest! And I did get to eat some super delicious Indian Food PLUS a delicious taco for dinner and caught up with TWO friends. Today, I also realized that I have just under 8 weeks till my 10K and I need to put in some serious training, I felt my most strongest when I was doing strength with my runs and sprints. So I am going to incorporate that back in this time.

Wednesday Plan: Run 4-5 miles at easy pace and abs

actual: hell happened, and I couldn’t stay on the treadmill. I didn’t have it in me to keep going and I was just upset and disappointed in myself. But I reached out to my IG run fam and got pointers on how to stay distracted and keep busy on the treadmill. I ran about 2 miles. Check out the list here.

Thursday- Plan: 3x (800m RP + 400 m R) pace for the 800m should be 8:50min/mi, pace for 400m should be at 11 min/mi

Actual: COMPLETED IT and faster than the prescribed speeds because I couldn’t quite figure out what speed I needed. So for each repeat I stayed between 7.6 and 7.4 on the treat which translated (via my garmin) to around 8:20-8:30 min/mi. And then I walked at an incline to round out a 3 mile run.

Friday- REST

Saturday- plan: Run 5 miles at at 9:50-11:05 min/mi long run pace and stretch/foam roll Actual: 4 miles at an average 10:03 or so pace! Not bad!! Christine even found a new trail to run near us so that was awesome to explore. It’s more of a bike trail, as there were TONS of cyclists, but still it was a lot of fun! After our run I went home and got ready and Jesse, Hendrix and I went down to the park. Afterwards, we went and completed our grocery shopping for Thanksgiving- no one ever told me that this was gonna be so dang expensive! Haha

Sweaty selfies πŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ½β€β™€οΈ
After run we played at the park

Sunday- plan: Run 4-5 miles easy pace 9:50 min/mi.

Actual: didn’t get to run, but went on a power walk with Hendrix to Carlsbad State Beach and enjoyed the afternoon. Walked 5 miles.

Total mileage: 12 running miles, 17 miles total (when you include the 5 mile walk from Sunday)

The weather was mostly rainy and gloomy, until Friday hit and then it was sunny and Saturday and Sunday did not disappoint. But it’s supposedly supposed to be rainy for thanksgiving.
